The Board of Management held a meeting at 7:00pm at the home of President Bob Cika on Tuesday, November 14, 2008. Those attending were: Rita Amaio, Bill Bussmann, Bob Cika, Jennifer Eisele, Sandy Podesta, Stephanie Sgambati and Amy Stefanowski. Jonathan Flatow and Jim O'Brien were absent and sorely missed.
President Bob Cika called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. The Board discussed the following topics:
Treasurer's Report
Rita Amaio reported that the Association continues to be in good
shape financially, despite downturns in the economy. All dues
are fully paid; a report is attached to these minutes. Rita also
presented the recently completed Audit Report of the Association's
financial records for the period 1/1/06 through 6/30/08, which
found all financial transactions properly recorded and operational
procedures adequate. A motion was made, seconded and approved
to accept the Treasurer's and Audit Reports.
Secretary's Report
Sandy is in the process of preparing an updated Member Directory.
The Board asked our historian, Ellen Cika, to compose the next
installment of the Associations' interesting background for inclusion.
It was also proposed that the Directory include a schematic of
the Boat Rack assignments so that everyone knows which spaces
belong to which members. Jennifer Eisele's suggestion to include
a photomontage was enthusiastically endorsed. All members are
asked to send photos of people, parties, parades and pretty scenes
for inclusion in the montage to Sandy; either by snail mail or
scanned via e-mail. (sp@eBusinessWriting.com)
Holiday Party
Amy Stefanowski happily reported that Dr. Nick Perricone has once
again invited us to celebrate the holidays at his beautiful home.
She will send out invitations but urged everyone
to save the date December 14 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm
for this elegant, warm holiday gathering. Members need bring
nothing to the party except appreciation for our generous host,
neighbor and friend!
Neighborhood Enhancement
Fences and Speed Bumps: Earlier plans to hire a painter have
not been completed as the painter has been out of the country.
If a connection cannot be made soon, we will ask for volunteers
to participate in a "Painting Party" at which we will,
of course, serve mimosas! Rita reported that she would make plans
to resurface the speed bumps before painting.
Roads and Parking: Members are asked to remember and remind their
tenants to refrain from parking cars fully on our roads as this
may impede traffic. All parking should be on
driveways and lawns. In the event of a party, drivers are asked
to use neighbors' driveways when approved and possible or, failing
that, to park partially on the grass.
Snow Plowing: Rita reported that she will make sure that our
plower stays current with this year's billing so as to avoid a
repeat of last year's late billing and subsequent upset of the
winter expenditure records.
Beach Enhancement
Beach: The Board reminds owners of rental homes to be certain
that their renters know our Rules and Regulations, which are included
in the Directory and available from the Secretary or any Board
Member. In particular, the rule prohibiting unauthorized beach
fires has been broken on several occasions and presents a danger
to all.
Clams : UPDATE -- Surrogate Clam Mom Bob Cika planted hundreds
of clams by hand, one- by-one and has monitored the little ones'
progress as they have matured successfully. Bob
reports that, although the clams may not be ready for our clamming
this summer, by next summer we should enjoy a clam bake!
Oysters: Bob also reported that the oysters planted near the
Town Dock are multiplying quickly and growing big; although we
can't eat them, the oysters will be working feverishly to clean
the river for us.
Boat Rack: Bill Bussmann agreed to accept the mantle of Admiral
of the Boat Rack (or Boat Rack Czar.) He will be adding names
to all the spots so boat owners know exactly in which spot their
boat belongs. He will monitor openings and reassignments.
Beach Shed: The Shed will be completely emptied so members are
alerted to remove their belongings by December 1. After this
date, anything left in the Shed will be discarded.
Sand Box: The sand area will be spruced up on Beach Clean-Up
Day this spring; new sand will be added and additional rocks will
be put in to help retain the sand.
Other Business
Animals: The Board urges members to be extra cautious with cats
and small children as several coyotes have been seen in our area.
Garbage Collection: Rita Amaio reported that she would switch
our beach garbage collection service to Tiger Pride, which offers
greater service for less money and includes customer service directly
from the owner and operator.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
Respectfully submitted by,
Sandy Podesta
