Minutes of the Board of Management Meeting

November 28, 2000

The Board Meeting was held at the home of Secretary Sandy Podesta. Present were President Brian Burke, Treasurer Jon Morrow, Board Members Tom Hynes, Rita Amaio, Jim O'Brien, Michael Eisele, Kim Ruggiero and Mark Kasevich.

HOLIDAY PARTY: Sunday January 21 has been selected for the Annual HERCC Winter Gathering, with Sunday, February 4 as an alternate. We are still seeking a neighborhood site for the party. If anyone would be willing to offer his or her home for this festive gathering, please contact any Board Member; for more information on what is involved in hosting, call Sandy Podesta at 245-6038.

JETTY MAINTENANCE: Jim O'Brien reported that the Jetty Committee hopes to repair, rather than replace, the existing jetty. It appears that eroded slats may be replaced while the more expensive pilings seem to be in more satisfactory shape. However, this needs to be confirmed by a jetty expert and plans are underway to arrange such a consultation.

CORNER SIGNS: As the signs that are attached to our white corner fences and announce entrance into HERCC environs have aged and are in disrepair, Rita Amaio volunteered to look into securing "facelifts" for them. She will report back with any information she uncovers.

HERCC WEBSITE: Our own website has been up and running for some time, thanks to Jon Morrow. If anyone would like to have his or her e-mail address added to the site, please contact Jon at 245-1405.

MEMBER NEWS: The Board expresses its condolences to the Houlihan family at the loss of their mother, longtime member Jennie Houlihan. On behalf of the Association, a contribution will be made in her name to the charity of choice.

OTHER BUSINESS: The Board discussed concerns expressed by member Bruce Judelson regarding the boat rack and member dues invoicing procedures. Brian will write the Board's response and send it to Bruce.

CORRECTION: With apologies from the Secretary, the following correction is made to the minutes of the July 22, 2000 Annual Meeting: Mary Blank was misquoted in the reporting of a discussion regarding dogs on the beach. What she did say was that "Public Health Law prohibits dogs from being allowed on the beach."

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted,

Sandy Podesta, Secretary
