The Board of Management meeting was held at the home of President Mary Blank on December 5, 2003 at 7:00 pm. Mary welcomed the members and, in response to the queries of everyone present, she reported that she is feeling quite well and thanked the entire membership for its concern, flowers, and cards.
Announcements
President Mary Blank welcomed the new families in the Association
once again, including Amy and Bob Stefanowski and their three
children at 61 Soundview Avenue.
Mary relayed thanks from Ellen Cika for the Association's contribution
to the Madison Congregational Church in memory of her late mother,
Grace Cross.
Mary reported that she has notified Aronson's Garage to be prepared
to plow the neighborhood clear of snow as needed throughout the
winter.
She also thanked Paul Teich for posting reflectors at all the
speed bumps to protect them from plow damage and/or destruction.
Financial Report
Judy Merriam has turned over her figures on the Summer Picnic proceeds to Treasurer Jon Morrow. Jon has prepared a financial statement of the picnic, which is attached, that shows that in addition to the wonderful time had by all, the Association enjoyed a small profit!
Committee Reports (Please see attached list of Committee Heads.)
Jetty and Landscaping:
Bob Cika reported that the west jetty (closest to the Stefanowski
property) has been virtually completely rebuilt during the lowest
low tide in the fall with the help of many handymen including
Bob Cika, Ken Finkle, Mike Eisele, Jim O'Brien, Bart Ruggiero,
Tom O'Dea, Brian Burke and Bill Bussmann. The Stefanowskis graciously
provided the vital electricity required and Kim Ruggiero provided
a sumptuous breakfast to the famished workers.
Bob reported that the excess shrubbery on the Beach Lot has been
cut down. To facilitate this improvement, Bob vigorously researched
prices and settled on the most reasonable provider, which happened
to be a professional right on Neck Road!
Bob also reported that, several weeks ago, a large tree trunk
washed up on the beach and that he gathered a crew to cut it up
and dispose of it. This crew included Bob himself, Jon Morrow,
Jim O'Brien, Tom O'Dea and Mike Eisele.
Grateful thanks go out to all the strong and generous men who
contributed their time and muscle to these essential projects.
Boat Rack and Storage Area
Judy Merriam reported that she is developing new policies
to better govern the use of the boat rack and storage area. For
example, she may propose that by November 1 each year, all boats
must be removedand that those who no longer use the boats that
are stored on the rack will be asked to vacate their spaces so
that those who do use their boats can have a place to store them.
Judy also volunteered to undertake a survey of the type of vessels
stored in order to determine whether an alternate arrangement
might accommodate more boats.
In order to improve the usability of the Storage Shed, Judy proposed
that all chairs, toys, umbrellas etc. be removed prior to Beach
Clean-Up. In this way, abandoned and unused property would be
discarded, making more room for items that are actively used.
Hospitality
Deb Paduda reports that the Nikituks have graciously offered
to host our Winter Party at their swank home. The party will take
place on Saturday, January 17. Your invitation is attached, and
provides additional details, courtesy of Molly Paduda.
Please note that we will be enjoying an official entrée
this year so all efforts to coordinate appetizers and side dishes
with this treat will be appreciated. Queries and R.S.V.P.s should
be directed to Hospitality Chair Deb Paduda at 245-0664.
Other Business
Attached is a copy of the letter from Ellen Cika and her brother
offering to donate a bench to the Association in memory of their
mother, Grace Cross, who passed away earlier this year. The board
thanked Ellen for this generous offer and gratefully accepted
it on behalf of the Association.
The Rules and Regulations and the Association By-Laws are available
for viewing on our website: www.hercc.org, which is undergoing
connectivity improvement and should be up and running shortly
if not already!
President Mary Blank was pleased to report that Sal Brunetto and
Ed Birdsey are recuperating nicely and sends them good wishes
for continued recoveries.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted,
Sandra Podesta, Secretary
