Minutes of the Board of Management Meeting
December 6, 2001

The last Board Meeting of the year was held at the home of our new President Tom Hynes. Also present were Secretary Sandy Podesta, Board Members Jim O'Brien, Michael Eisele, Rita Amaio, Brian Burke and Kim Ruggiero. Treasurer Jon Morrow and Member Mark Kasevich were absent.

WINTER PARTY: This year's winter party will be held on Sunday, January 13 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the home of Sandy Podesta. Once again, we look forward to a festive celebration. All members are encouraged to attend and to bring something delicious; see enclosed flyer for details.

JETTY REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE: The Association is fortunate to have had handy men Ken Finkle, Tom Hynes and Jetty Committee Chairman Jim O'Brien fix a recent breach in our beach's eastern jetty. With essential materials procured by Ken Finkle and combined know-how, the immediate danger of further loss has been forestalled. The men have volunteered to install, at a dead low tide in the spring, additional threaded stainless steel rods to the remaining pieces in jeopardy to hold them in place until major repair work can be done in warmer weather.

SNOW PLOWING: The President reported on his negotiations with our previous snowplower Jim Aronson, who has agreed to resume plowing the Association streets this winter. In addition, markers will be placed at either side of each speed bump to ensure that none will be plowed away.

SPEED BUMPS: The Association withheld final payment to the previous snowplower due to his decimation of several speed bumps. These funds will be used to rebuild the bumps, an effort the Association will spearhead on its own. Mike Eisele agreed to speak to members currently doing home renovations to see if they might be willing to have us "piggyback" on their asphalt delivery in the spring, as our small job might be difficult to effect on its own.

TREASURER'S REPORT: Treasurer Jon Morrow reported that all Association members have paid their dues in full at this time.

HERCC WEBSITE: Jon Morrow and his family have put in a wonderful effort building and maintaining the HERCC website at no cost to the Association. Unfortunately, a profit-seeking conglomerate has bumped the site. Jon advises that it will be difficult to find a free provider and it would be a labor-intensive job to rebuild the site. The Board will review what it would cost to rebuild and maintain the site to determine whether usage will warrant such an expense. We extend our thanks to the Morrows for their efforts.

FENCE SIGNS: Rita Amaio acquired estimates for three different kinds of signs to replace those that have aged significantly on the fences and at the beach. It seems the PVC signs are not only the most attractive but also the most long-lasting. The Board has approved an expenditure in line with the $850 estimate; Rita will confirm this cost and continue negotiating in the event that she can secure a lower price.

MEMBER DIRECTORY: Secretary Sandy Podesta reported that the Directory is in need of updating. She asks all members with changes to call her at 245-6038 or to e-mail her at sp@eBusinessWriting.com.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted,

Sandy Podesta, Secretary
