The first Board Meeting of the Millennium was held at the home of President Brian Burke. Also present were Treasurer Jon Morrow, Secretary Sandy Podesta, Board Members Tom Hynes, Jim O'Brien, Michael Eisele and Rita Amaio. Kim Ruggiero was absent.
SEA WALL: Brian reported that an agreement on the Sea Wall easement has been signed by all involved parties. (See enclosed letter for further information.)
JETTY MAINTENANCE: Bart Ruggiero and Steve Nikituk have volunteered to serve on a Jetty Committee to handle maintenance and repair of the wooden jetty on the Association beach as well as to prepare for replacement/rebuilding, should such a need arise. Jim O'Brien will join them and serve as the Board Liaison.
NEIGHBORHOOD/BEACH CLEAN-UP: Saturday, April 29 at 10:00 a.m. was selected for HERCC's Beach Clean-Up Day with Sunday, April 30 as the rain date. Rita offered to supply refreshments; Jim O'Brien will repair the split-rail fence and supply a trailer to remove debris. Arrangements are also being made to repaint the Association entrance fences, repair any placards that have become worn and repaint the speed bumps.
ANNUAL MEETING AND PICNIC: Saturday, July 22 was selected as the date for this day long Association event. The Annual Board Meeting will once again take place on the beach beginning at 9:00 a.m. followed later in the day by the Children's Parade and Picnic on the Beach. Tom Hynes (245-2487) and Sandy Podesta (245-6038) are actively seeking volunteers to help; please call either one to lend a hand. Jennifer Eisele and Katherine Morrow will once again be asked to donate their creative expertise to planning the children's festivities.
TREASURER'S REPORT: Jon Morrow reported that the Association is in good financial health. Among other factors, the warmer winter saved on plowing costs again this year. Two members are still in arrears on dues: Mary Lou Fusi and the Judelsons. The Board adopted a policy that boat racks will not be available to those members who are not fully paid up on dues.
BOARD OF MANAGEMENT: Non-Board member Steve Nikituk has agreed to serve on the Audit Committee along with Brian Burke and Rita Amaio. The committee has been formed pursuant to the newly-adopted by-laws in order to review Association budgets and accounting. The committee will meet with Treasurer Jon Morrow shortly for this review. In addition, because three Board Members' terms expire this year and one seat remains vacant, the Board will propose a slate of nominees for election at the Annual Meeting pursuant to the by-laws.
TAG SALE: Sandy Podesta reported that she and Kim propose having the next tag sale in August in order to involve more of those families who are here primarily during the summer; participation in this fun event will be sought during the Annual Board Meeting. This would also allow people to collect more desirable items to sell; disposing of unsold goods has proved problematic so, this year, donors will need to remove their own unsold items. The baked goods continue to produce strong profits; we hope to elicit even more contributions this year. All members are invited to participate by calling either Kim or Sandy.
MEMBER NEWS: The Board expressed condolences to the families of two HERCC members who recently passed away: Elwood (Burt) Burton and William Haller. On behalf of the Association, contributions will be made in their names to their preferred charities.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted,
Sandy Podesta, Secretary
