Minutes of the Board of Management Meeting
June 5, 2007

The HERCC Board of Management met at the home of Bob and Ellen Cika. Present were: Treasurer Rita Amaio, Secretary Sandra Podesta and Members Bill Bussmann, Bob Cika, Ken Finkle (later), Jim O'Brien, Amy Stefanowski (by phone) and Paul Teich.

After thanking the Cikas for welcoming us into their home, Treasurer Rita Amaio and Secretary Sandy Podesta called the meeting to order. The Board discussed the following topics:

Acceptance of Minutes
A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes from the previous meeting of April 16, 2007. All present voted in favor.

Member News
On behalf of the Association, the Board once again extended its sympathies to the Blank family on the loss of their, and our, beloved Mary Blank. The Board continues to work on a memorial to this great lady and is preparing a plaque to honor Mary, which we will present to the membership at the Annual Meeting along with several options for appropriate places in which to display it.

Rita reported that Alan Smith suffered a recent fall and is in the hospital in serious condition. We extend to Alan, Marge their familey our heartfelt wishes for a speedy and full recovery.

Beach News
® The Beach is sparklingly clean. For this we have many to thank, including: those loyal members who worked hard on Beach Clean-up day; Rita Amaio for managing the outside firm that removed the large tree trunks that washed up during the nor'easter; neighbor Tim Gaiser for raking regularly; and Bob, Jim, Bill, Bart and Brian for fixing the fence.

® Following up on a member suggestion, the Board discussed filling in the "sandbox" and decided to look into adding some salt-water resistant shrubs to both enhance the appearance and help retain the sand. Ellen Cika graciously volunteered to explore the possibilities.

® Mike Eisele has done all the work to bring us to the point of purchasing and installing the float that was voted in at last year's Annual Meeting (thank you, Mike!) Several Board Members once again raised concerns about safety and liability; others offered solutions such as strict usage rules and signed waivers of understanding. The Board agreed to bring these issues for further discussion by the full membership at this year's annual meeting. If any members would like to present ideas, opinions or suggestions prior to the meeting, please contact Sandy at 494-5111 or any Board Member.

Board of Management Election
At this year's Annual Meeting, we need to elect a President, Secretary and three Board members. The Board will propose to the membership a slate of nominees. Members may make additional nominations at the meeting. A vote will be taken, as usual, at the meeting and the winners will be announced at the evening festivities.

New Member Proposals
The Board has received several requests to join the Association from property owners outside the HERCC boundaries. Our By-Laws specify precise geographic restrictions for membership. In order to allow anyone to join who does not meet these requirements, the full membership would have to vote to change the By-laws. Therefore, we will address this issue at the Annual Meeting.

From the Treasurer
® Our Treasurer is forming an audit committee to review our finances.

From The Secretary
® Members are requested to bring to the Annual Meeting any updated information for the Directory as well as e-mail addresses for quick notification of urgent news and to receive minutes electronically.
® The website is up and running at www.hercc.org (thank you, Jon!) Members are asked to submit news and photos to Jon Morrow at allmorro@ix.netcom.com

Other News
At this year's Annual Meeting, the Board will update one and all on HERCC's ongoing struggles with the Willenkins, who continue to encroach upon our right of way.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
